Bintmance

Coined in the 2000s, the emerging term bintmance has typically referred to a relationship between heterosexual females influenced by the effect of the ladette culture in the Northern United Kingdom.
"Bintmance" is a portmanteau, a combination of the words "bint"(a negative colloquial term for a female) and "romance."
It has increased in usage partly due to post-feminist efforts to reclaim typical negative terminology for women. In a modern culture which has moved more towards platonic relationships as a replacement for traditional family bonds, the term is used to describe female friendships that are perceived as the primary emotional attachment in the participants' lives.
