Waste Not Technologies received a grant from the DEP to increase the use of Pennsylvania-generated recycled feedstock. Pennsylvania’s recycling industry comprises more than 3,247 recycling and reuse businesses and organizations that generate more than $18.4 billion in gross annual sales, pay $305 million in taxes and provide jobs for more than 81,322 employees at an annual payroll of approximately $2.9 billion.
Processing of milk jugs into a unique product, to look like real trees. The manufacturing process for converting milk jugs to recycled plastic fencing attracted the attention of local TV reporters.
Recycling efforts
In February 2005, Waste Not Technologies was awarded a "Save Our Planet" award by the Women in Business for successfully recycling 130,000 pounds of recycled plastic milk jugs into a fencing product, and working with local schools on a recycling competition. That results in a greenhouse gas benefit equal to 28 passenger cars not driven for one year.
