The Washington Continent is a breaking news site started by Publisher Robert Rob Redding Jr. on July 3, 2007 - the site began full operation on July 30, 2007. The publication is edited by former Washington Times reporter Henry Brier Notable reports The site's reports of the city's legal battles have been credited by The Washington City Paper Its coverage of the mayor's name has also been the talk of the town. History The publication gets its name from Albion W. Tourgées Our Continent. Tourgée founded the National Citizens Rights Association and also represented Homer Plessy in the Plessy vs. Ferguson segregation case. Tourgée's publication was often referred to as the New York Continent. The publication is also named after Frank A. Munsey's New York Daily Continent. It was later merged with William Randolph Hearst's New York American. |
