Washington Arlington Catholic Forensics League

The Washington Arlington Catholic Forensics League is a region of the National Catholic Forensics League. Technically, it is two separate regions that compete together, but send students to the NCFL National Tournament individually. The larger region, Arlington, represents northern Virginia, with 40 schools registered, while the Washington district has 25 schools. Tournaments Every year WACFL holds six tournaments in each of the NCFL's types of debate Policy Debate, Student Congress, Lincoln-Douglass Debate, Speech, and Public Forum. One tournament is held for each event once a month, with some overlapping, from October-February, called WACFL I, II, III, IV, and V. In March, students who have advanced according to NCFL rules will go to a "metro finals" round, in which the winners of each event go on to the national tournament. NCFL WACFL has a significant role in NCFL. Besides being one of the biggest regions, two of the NCFL's current officers come from WACFL. The first one is Roberta Hyland, who is the current Second Vice President. Roland Burdett, who has served in a number of roles since 1998, also comes from WACFL.
