A warmcut is a slang term used primarily among college students to describe a building with preferably long hallways that facilitates a warm and dry way to get to class. Warmcuts are generally used during the colder winter months to shield students from the cold and the wind. It is also used during times of precipitation to keep people dry. History The term "warmcut" was coined on a particularly cold day while a group of students were walking to class and (Toby Davis) one of the members of the group asked if the group was going to take the warmcut. The original "warmcut" was a building that featured a key component of a warmcut which is a long hallway. A clever play on words of the word "shortcut", the slang word took off from there. Since then the word has been used to describe various buildings on college campuses throughout the United States. Alternate Definitions According to Urbandictionary.com, a warmcut is a noun: A pedestrian route chosen for its warmth, rather than because it makes the pedestrian's trip shorter.
