Wantirna Primary School

Wantirna Primary School is a state School located in the Melbourne South-East suburb of Wantirna. The Township of Wantirna was declared at the turn of the 20th Century and the need for a local State School soon arose. In 1912 the Local Finger Family Donated a small portion of land on Mountain Hwy (Then known as Wantirna-Sassafrass Road) and a School was established that same year.In 1986 a Fire erupted in one of the original classrooms soon engulfing the whole building,& the structure was then lost.
The following year in 1987, the School celebrated it's 75th Anniversary with a Historical Dress day, School Fate & Art Show, Construction of new Courtyard made from bricks carved from the students, New Brick barbecue, Planting of native Trees & the burial of a time capsule to be opened back up in the year 2012 the year the school turns 100.
