Prof. Walid Tawfik (born July 6, 1969) is an Egypt academic researcher at Cairo University. Early life and education Tawfik was born on July 6, 1969, in Cairo, Egypt. followed by a Master of Science in Physics in 1996. He completed his PhD in Physics in 2000 at Cairo University in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Career Academic leadership Tawfik has held several academic leadership positions, including Chairman of the Department of Laser Applications in Metrology, Photochemistry, and Agriculture (LAMPA) He has overseen curriculum development and accreditation processes, including those aligned with NAQAAE and ABET standards. Research Tawfik's research focuses on the interdisciplinary application of ultrafast lasers, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence models (AIM) in environmental analysis and cancer treatment His work on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) has been widely cited, and he has been recognized as one of the world's top 2% scientists in photonics by Stanford University (2021-2024).
