W. Jeffrey Brown (born 1970) is an American entrepreneur, investor, and media proprietor. Career Brown is the founder and executive director of the Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation, and a stakeholder and angel investor in internet and media businesses. Brown was named as the first Entrepreneur in Residence at Florida International University's School of Journalism in Miami. He was also a member of the School of Communication + Journalism Dean’s Advisory Board. Early life and education Brown, an American citizen, was born in Mexico to American citizens working abroad. Due to his father's job, his family moved frequently as he was growing up. From the age of twelve he attended boarding schools: Valley Forge Military Academy and College and West Nottingham Academy. A self-described "horrible student", Brown attended Pikes Peak Community College, and the University of Northern Colorado - but dropped out without completing a degree. Politics Brown changed party affiliation from Republican to Democrat in 2002. He is registered as a member of the Florida Democratic Party.
