Volksmusik TV was launched on February 8th, 2007 in Europe and on May 1st, 2007 in the United States with expansion planed across North and South America by the end of the year 2009.

Europe

Volksmusik TV is broadcasting in Europe a 24/7 program.

On May 1st, 2007 the network launched its program on Satellite Astra 19.2 East across Europe expanding its prior footprint provided by satellite (Astra 23.5 East central European footprint) to a Europewide coverage area. The channel is also available in major cable systems in Germany, Austria, Estland and Switzerland.

North and South America

Volksmusik TV in the Americas is a pure 24/7 music television network targeting Germans and German speakers.
During the 1950s and 1960s of the last century, approximately two million Austrian, Germans and Swiss left their home countries for a better life in the new world. They settled all across the United States with large concentrations in the Midwest, Florida and California. This audience today is well over 50 years old with a bit of home sickness for the land they left many years ago. Many kept their traditions and integrated into the American fabric but kept their love for the most important tradition: German music. An estimated 20% of all U.S. Citizens have German- speaking roots or can trace their heritage back to Austria, Germany or Switzerland. Examples like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dr. Ruth or Henry Kissinger are examples of German speakers in America with roots in Europe. In addition to the immigrants, many U.S. citizens who served in the US military have been stationed in Germany, especially in Bavaria, Hesse, and the Rhineland Palatinate, and learned first hand to love German Gemuetlichkeit and fell in love with the country and its music.

Regional channels

Volksmusik TV Europe and Volksmusik TV Americas offer the same kind of musical programming. The European version in produced in Bremen while the American version is produced in Tustin, California.

The channel can be watched via Satellite Astra 19,2 East, D/L Frequency: 12,633 GHz, horizontal, Symbol Rate 22.000, FEC 5/6.

Additionally Cable, Mobile TV and IPTV provider carry the networks European feed.

Coverage in Americas

Volksmusik TV Americas is currently available to IPTV subscribers in North and South America. There are plans to launch within a Pay-TV satellite system in Canada, the United States and Mexico. VMTV launched in the Fall of 2007 a free VOD service for cable systems in the U.S. and Canada.
