Vitamin A5 is a group of compounds, including 9-cis-13,14-dihydroretinol as vitamin A5 alcohol and 9-cis-13,14-dihydroretinoic acid as the active derivative and the endogenous relevant activator of the retinoid-X receptors (RXRs) as confirmed in various review articles . Vitamin A5 has thereby putative actions similar to those of vitamin A serving as a precursor of ligands of nuclear hormone receptors, comparable to retinol / vitamin A1 functioning as a nutritional precursor for , the endogenous ligand for the retinoic acid receptors (RARs) . As of 2021, this model system was under laboratory research. |
