Virtual filing cabinet is a technology infrastructure developed by Carmel Vision using and C# programming language. The result is a central management system that allows different repositories, such as emails, contacts and documents, to talk to one another. The system allows all office communication activities including email management, document management, contact management, calendar, notes, telephony, fax and more to be managed, indexed and retrieved, from a single application.
Other companies have already begun following suit. Open Text and Oracle have invested heavily in R&D to try to develop similar technologies as their customers no longer want to use different applications in managing their offices.
