Dr Vinitaa Hemant Apte (born 16 July 1962)
A multifaceted personality Vinitaa is writer, TV anchor, Actress and Founder president is Founder president of TERRE Policy Centre which is a not-for-profit organization engaged in the evidence-based policy development and project based advocacy on the sustainable development. Before August 2008 she was working in public sector bank . She was consultant in OzonActionBranch of the United Nations Environment Programme, Division of the Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP DTIE) in Paris.
During her UNEP assignment she developed the media strategy for the organization. She bagged Gunwant Kamgar Award for her excellent work in Bank in 1994. In 2007 she was awarded for her environmental work in the 20th Anniversary of Montreal Protocol, in Montreal Canada. She is awarded a Doctorate by University of Pune for her thesis ‘Global Environment Management through Indian Wisdom’ under the guidance of Dr P C Shejwalkar.
Background and early life
Dr Vinitaa H Apte was born in Sholapur and brought in Pune . She was bright NCC student and bagged a lance corporal rank for her best performance in NCC. She had represented Republic Day parade during her NCC tenure. She completed her graduation in commerce in Pune University and started her career in Public Sector Bank in January 1984.
Family Background
Vinitaa is the youngest daughter of late Vasant Shridhar Patankar and Vasanti Vasant Patankar . She is having 3 elder brothers. She is married in 1984 with Mr Hemant Shankar Apte and have two daughters Kshitija and Mrunmayi , both the daughters are married .
Career
Dr Vinitaa Apte being a banker was very popular and communicative. She started her banking career in 1984. During her banking career she also passionate about Marathi programmes. She was great actress, innovative writer, very promising TV anchor. She was developed many Marathi programmes and make those popular. She compared more than 5000 programmes around globe.
She had participated in parallel theater and bagged many awards as prominent actress. She was acted in daily soaps on Marathi channels and also acted in the famous CID serial on sony channel. She is passionate about marathi poems and literature and so she compiled many Marathi programmes which are then crossed the borders of India.
After 25 years of service in public sector bank she took voluntary retirement and joined the most prestigious United Nation Environment programme as consultant in OzonAction at Paris as a communication expert. During her three years of consultancy she implemented the media campaigns, social media out reach around the globe. She came back from Paris in 2010 and set up her own organisation TERRE Policy centre. She is passionate to work on environment and for the youth and women empowerment.
Other projects
She has written numerous articles for the national/international news papers and magazines and very active on social media. She wrote five Marathi books. Her book on positive thoughts is now entitled for the syllabus of Pune university. Her book "Hirvya vata" based on her experiences of small and beautiful things all over the world bagged a 3 awards including National Award.
She is trustee of "Anandashram" .The trust is dedicated for the language Sanskrit . She is managing trustee of Late Madhavrao Shende Memorial trust dedicated for Hindustani classical Music. The trust is organizing classical music festival every year in the rural Maharashtra and also started ‘Kala Dalan’ to educate the rural youth for classical music at Rahimatpur.
