Vihang A Naik

Vihang A. Naik (b. September 2, 1969) is a contemporary Indian poet, translator, literary and art critic.

Biography
Vihang A. Naik was born in Surat of Gujarat and had primary education at the Navrachana School of Baroda,and then after he had his education form Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board , final year of schooling from Ahmedabad . He had his higher education from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he read for a BA in English and Philosophy , and again from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he took an MA in English Literature and Indian Literature In Translation.

His First News "At an early age of about twenty he burnt his collection of poems written during his teens." He then after started writing poetry in a new mode. Contemporary.

He is India’s leading Indian English young poet writing in English who is widely published and anthologized and won awards . His poems have appeared in Indian Literature : A Sahitya Akademi Bi-Monthly Journal , Kavya Bharati , POESIS : A Journal of Poetry Circle , Mumbai , The Journal of The Poetry Society ( India ) , The Journal of Indian Writing In English , The Journal of Literature and Aesthetics , The Poetry Chain among other significant journals. He has one Gujarati collection to his credit. He translates Gujarati poetry into English. He taught English for about more than a decade in Gujarat .

As Patrica Prime in The Journal of The Poetry Society,( India ) puts it :"One of the pleasures gained by reading Vihang Naik’s poetry is the awareness that every poem, both singly and when placed together as a body of work , demonstrates a belief in the possibilities language might have to truthfully and energetically communicate the writing experience. Naik does not distract himself with enquiries into problems of subjectivity and textuality, and although many poems in this collection are innovative and exploratory, Naik has faith in a poetry that can presume to speak the poet’s life with clarity and wisdom. In this way his work should appeal to the shared experience of other writers and their common histories, and seek to render the function of poetry as a vehicle for insight, as a conduit between the individual and his wider readership. Making A Poem is, therefore , an intriguing work to appear at a time when what could be called a “revival” in poetry writing is taking place.".
