Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG is an international hotel group and Austria’s
largest hotel management company. The Vienna based company which was founded in 1989 operates and develops on the basis of
individual management contracts a total of 31 hotels & resorts and 2 hotel projects in nine European countries. (Brand VI Hotels). The number of employees amounts to 2.500.
History
The company was founded in 1989. From the beginning the hotel group has been focused on operating hotels and resorts based on individual management contracts. Hotel Diplomat was the first hotel of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG, with five more hotels
soon to follow. A continuous course of expansion was initiated thereafter. Rudolf Tucek was called to the board in 1992 and became CEO in 2000. Since then the expansion of the company has been enforced, leading to various collaborations with real estate developers and
many new hotels have been opened since. On February 2, 2011 Thomas Aistleitner took over as CEO from Rudolf Tucek as interim manager. On 1 September 2011, Dr. Andreas Karsten succeeded as CEO. Among the main investors of Vienna International is Warimpex Finanz-
und Beteiligungs AG.
Business area
The core business consists of managing city, resort, health and congress hotels, mainly rated with four or five stars. Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG operates and manages the hotels in its portfolio based on individual management contracts. On the basis of these contracts Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG carries out management functions like sales, operations, marketing and controlling. The hotels do not become the property of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG. The ownership structure varies across the portfolio, Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG operates the various business entities in the name and for account of the owners. Regarding corporate communication the respective hotels and their individual character are given prominence while Vienna International Hotels & Resorts acts as umbrella brand (e.g. corporate homepage and the slogan „managed by Vienna
International Hotelmanagement AG“).
VI hotels and resorts
Currently the portfolio consists of 31 hotels and resorts with a total number of approx. 6.300 rooms and 13.700 hotel beds. Among them is one Leading Hotels of the World ( Le Palais Prag ), the Hotel Palace Praha as well as the Loipersdorf Spa & Conference. The Hotels are located in ten European countries: Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, France, Romania, Russia, Belarus and Slovakia.
Subsidiary occupation
In addition to managing hotels Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG is also active in various other business areas. The company runs a travel agency, publishes books on wine and cooking and produced two Motown-style CDs.
