Music of Europe

The music of Europe includes a number of kinds of distinct genres of music, including traditional and modern folk, rock and alternative music, and some of the most widely-recognized classical styles in the world. Its variety reflects the variety of Europe in general, and individual countries and their regions may have very different styles of traditional or more modern music.

European music could be broadly sub categorised based upon geography into Western Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe. It is a part of Western music.

The Eurovision Song Contest, the world's largest music event, is a competition for European songs. It has been held every year since 1956.

There is a wide variety of instruments used in European music.

By region
Western Europe
Western european music includes the music of Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Central Europe
Central european music includes the music of Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland. This area boasts mostly about Classical music and folk music of Romania, Germnay, Poland and Switzerland.

Eastern Europe
Eastern music includes the music of Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.
Northern Europe

Nordic music includes the music of Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. It also includes Finno-Ugric music.
Southern Europe
It includes the music of Portugal, Spain, Andorra, Monaco, Italy, the Vatican City, San Marino, Slovenia, Malta and also the Music of Southeastern Europe.
