Video Game Tycoon

Video Game TYCOON is a tycoon computer game developed and published by GAMESweet Software. It is an example of a tycoon game, which lets users play video games, create their own 3D video games, and burn them to CD or DVD.
The software allows the creation by children of an original, simple 3D video game. A follow-up title, Video Game Tycoon: Online Edition, was released on October 25, 2009. It is aimed at older children and teenagers, includes more game-play styles and allows game sharing.
GameSweet released three editions: Video Game Tycoon: Gold Edition in 2006, Video Game Tycoon: Diamond Edition (discontinued) in 2006, and Video Game Tycoon: Online Edition on October 25, 2009.
Game play
There are three types of game play in Video Game TYCOON: play, tutorial and build.
The software provides some premade games, and "build mode" allows users to burn video games to disc.
Tutorials include defining levels and level objectives, defining players, and defining other objects. After completing the four supplied tutorials, players earn a "Certificate of Training in Video Game Design".
Build mode is where most of the time is spent, creating and fine-tuning video games. Players can achieve bronze, silver, and gold medals as they gain more experience building games.
To achieve "Bronze Video Game Design Awards", players create a level with five targets and a target level objective, a level with five collectables and a collectable level objective, and equip a vehicle with a weapon or a character with an accessory. Once players have achieved bronze, they unlock the ability to burn games onto CD or DVD. This feature is omitted in the Online Edition. Instead, it is replaced with the ability to post games online.
To achieve "Silver Video Game Design Awards", players need to create a level with five gates and a gate level objective, a level with multiple player character selections, a level with two or more cheats, and a level with a timer objective. Achieving silver status unlocks the high flying Kruiser and Pegasus objects. In version 1.16 - 1.24 of Gold Edition, it was possible to unlock both the kruiser and pegasus. The bug was fixed in version 1.25. The Online Edition allows for both items to be unlocked.
To achieve "Gold Video Game Design Awards", players need to create a level with multiplayer support, a level with 2 easter eggs, a level with at least 3 snap-together do-it-yourself terrain sections, and a level with an objective rewards that gives players the ability to unlock levels. Achieving gold status will unlock advanced object controls, which allow players to generate more complex video games.
Players and AI (artificially intelligent) objects define the majority of the game content for each video game. Player objects are controlled by players using the mouse, keyboard, or game controllers. AI objects are controlled automatically by the game itself. The textures of the players can be edited using an image editor in the Online Edition.
Players can choose from a range of characters, including human characters with a range of professions, and inanimate objects.
Various weapons and accessories can be attached to many player and AI objects, such as a paintball gun.
Game play objects are those objects that affect level objectives, such as gates that affect the gates objective, exploding crates and barrels that affect the survive objective, collectable objects such as butterflies, stars, and coins that affect the collection objective.
Scenery objects are added primarily for generating scenes and terrain. Scene objects don't directly affect game play, but may indirectly affect game play (such as when a tree is put in the center of a race track).
There are two types of terrain available: Geared-Up terrain and Do-It-Yourself terrain. Geared up terrain is terrain that has already been snapped together, and may also contains scene and gameplay objects. Do-it-yourself terrain are sections that can be snapped together to generate larger 3D scenes.
Game and level object—lives define the game play of each level. These objectives may be either required objectives to complete a level, or bonus objectives.
