Victorian England Under Martian Rule

Victorian England Under Martian Rule is a fictional April Fool's joke album by British band Cradle of Filth announced in 2000. The band went as far as to include information about it in Terrorizer Magazine, and Dani Filth even came up with artwork and a track listing. It was purportedly conceived as a double-album based on The War of the Worlds and on dinosaurs.

Dani Filth also explained in interviews that the original Cradle of Filth line-up (Filth, Paul Ryan, Darren White, and Jonathan Richard) would collaborate on one of the songs on the album. Essentially however, Victorian England Under Martian Rule was the working title for the then-unnanounced album Midian. It was also supposed to feature guests such as Rob Halford, Diamanda Galás, King Diamond and Horgh.

Surprisingly, a large proportion of Cradle's fanbase fell for the joke.
