The Velvet Trench Vibes is a Canadian Hip-Hop group from Montreal, Quebec. The group has achieved local success since the release of their album Opium Lounge in 2006 and moderate success nationwide following the Sex, Drugs and Rocketships tour. They have yet to pierce the American market. History Jayson Newcomen, known professionally as "Aspen", and Mike Larsson, known professionally as "Hollywood", formed the group while they were still in high school. They decided to combine efforts while both dominating the local battle scene. In 2003, they were voted by the Montreal Mirror one of the best Hip-Hop acts in Montreal. As the Vibes evolved musically, they decided to add a live instrument. This change led to Dillon Crosilla, professionally known as "Aeroswift", joining the band as a guitarist in 2005. Members Current members The Velvet Trench Vibes currently consists of four members * Aspen (Jayson Newcomen) * Hollywood (Mike Larsson) a.k.a. Nero, Logik, Freddy Five * Aeroswift (Dillon Crosilla) * Skin Deep (Akil Roberts) a.k.a Serious Black Discography Albums * 2005: Opium Lounge ** Their second album will most likely be released in early 2008 and remains untitled. Trivia * Aspen is related to Thomas Newcomen, the inventor of the Newcomen steam engine * The photoshoot for the album cover of Opium Lounge was set outside Aeroswift's apartment
