Ved Parkash Sharma (b. 01 Jan 1950), is a professor of English, literary critic, and poet. Sharma writes in French, Urdu, Sanskrit, English, Hindi and Dogri. He earned his doctorate with a thesis on Techniques of Characterization in Angus Wilson’s Novels. Sharma served as a lecturer in Himachal Pradesh University, after which he also held prominent administrative positions such as the Dean of Studies in Himachal Pradesh University(2006-2009). He published work on the novelist Shashi Tharoor, and employs structural and post structural approaches to literature. His own poetry was reviewed and published in internationally acclaimed journals. He also authored books and has published papers in national and international research journals. During his academic career, he has tutored forty students for MPhil and eleven for PhD. He has also edited textbooks which are prescribed for the graduation level in Himachal Pradesh University. His much famed book Tribal Development : Appraisal & Alternatives is read as a part of curriculum in MA Sociology of Banaras Hindu University ("the largest residential university in Asia").
