Vassilis Kostakos () is a computer scientist who is Professor of Computer Engineering in Ubiquitous Computing at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Oulu, Finland. His research interests are in Ubiquitous Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, and Social and Dynamic Networks. He is Associate Director of the MediaTeam Oulu research group. Biography Vassilis Kostakos was born in Greece, but works in Oulu, Finland. He received both his Bachelor and PhD degrees in computer science from University of Bath, UK in 2001 and 2005. Prior to settling in Oulu, Kostakos held positions at the University of Madeira (where he co-founded the Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute), Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Bath. He is an author in the fields of human-computer interaction and ubiquitous computing. His research involves the use of open ubiquitous infrastructure and mobile devices, focusing on novel applications and social network analysis. He has received a Marie Curie Career Integration Grant for 2012-2016, and was a Fellow of the Finland Distinguished Professor Programme. Selected publications * Kostakos, V., Venkatanathan, et al.
