US National Cycling Center

The US National Cycling Center will be a training facility for elite cyclists across all disciplines of the sport - road, track, cyclo-cross, para-cycling and BMX. The NCC will have an association with USA Cycling and the Community Olympic Development Program (COPD) and has applied for designation as an official US Olympic training site.is currently under construction with a scheduled opening in Spring/Summer of 2017. The facility is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Upon completion, the NCC will serve as a location for identifying cycling talent, providing training camps for professional and semi-professional teams and riders, and advancing the sport locally through community initiatives.
Athlete Training
The NCC’s facility will provide a space for professional and semi-professional athletes to train together as a team during traditional spring training camps. Facilities planned include:
• Ten 2-person dormitory rooms for housing
• A metabolic testing, consulting and massage area
• A nutrition and kitchen area
• A strength and conditioning room with specialized aerobic and weight training equipment
• A multi-purpose / meeting room for community health and wellness events and workshops
• A bike storage and repair center, which will also provide a mentorship program to area youth, teaching them how to build, maintain and repair bicycles.
Community Programs
The NCC will help provide cycling opportunities to children from lower-income homes, working with schools and children’s organizations. Planned programs include:
• Bicycle training and safety education
• Access to bicycles for local school intramural programs
• The opportunity for children to “earn a bike” by working in the NCC’s bike storage and repair center.
The NCC also plans to serve as a local resource for cycling clubs and activities, and support cycling-related advocacy efforts with local government and planning commissions.
