University of Toronto Television

University of Toronto Television (UTTV) is the University of Toronto student-run Internet television network.
The station carries original, student-produced content submitted on a weekly basis by the UofT community. In doing so, it joins a long-standing tradition of student-run media networks at the University of Toronto, such as the U of T community radio station CIUT, and the popular campus newspapers (including The Varsity, which was founded in 1880 and is the second-oldest student newspaper in Canada).
UTTV also joins fellow Canadian Universities with more established TV stations, such as CUTV and Ryerson.
History
Initially founded under the title of "University of Toronto Film Society" by undergraduate film students Arup Ghose, Curt Jaimungal, and Stephanie Gash, the student group gained official status as a recognized UofT student group in the summer of 2009 and subsequently rebranded itself as "University of Toronto Television" (UTTV). It is currently based on the St. George campus. The change of name was due to the creators' desire to expand into the television market, as well as leave room for films.
Current Videos
UTTV productions
The current list of UTTV shows include the Weekly News Show, a local Food Review Show, and an Untitled Sitcom. The expected dates of release are Q2 2010.
Student submissions
The group takes submissions from UofT students of films having anything to do with UofT. Recently, due to a loss of storage media, most of the student submitted content was lost. They are in the process of retrieving the data.
