University of Alabama in Huntsville varsity tennis team Playboy controversy
|
Roseleena Blair (born 1980 or 1981, Honolulu) is a model and a former University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis player who was suspended by the National Collegiate Athletic Association because she appeared in a Playboy Special Edition. While attending Moanalua High School, Honolulu, Hawaii, Blair was a promising tennis player, as she got awarded the schools Most Valuable Athlete (tennis) in 1997 and MVP in tennis in 1999. As stated in her pictorial's accompanying text it did not earn her any tennis scholarships and she didn't want to play competitive tennis anymore. She moved to UAH where she was asked to play again. On August 28, 2000, Blair got suspended from the UAH tennis team as soon as school officials heard of the photo shoot she did for Playboy in June 2000 for their August Sexy Girls in Sports Special Edition. Following procedure, the school informed the NCAA and they declared the photo unacceptable because she got paid for posing nude. NCAA regulations disallow athletes getting paid, directly or indirectly, using their athletic skills. So she got suspended for gaining money and not for posing nude in a magazine that, according to NCAA, is not sports related. Blair got reinstated at UAH and in 2002 got initiated in the schools chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta society. Other appearances Besides the controversial Special Edition she also appeared in the following issues: * Wet & Wild (2000) * Sexy Celebrities (2000) * College Girls - Spring (2001) * Natural Beauties (2001) * Girls of Summer (2001) * Nudes (2001) * Girls of Summer (2002) * Natural Beauties (2003)
