The oontz (Pronunciation: exactly how it sounds) beat is the sound which is made by an electronic bass or kick drum, usually in 4/4 time. It is very popular among mainstream media and the Internet. It is widely used in slang as in a person starting to make a noise which goes, "oontz oontz oontz". It is more casually referenced to as being related to internet videos and the like.
Apart from being used to vocally describe a beat, the "oontz" is also commonly used in Beatboxing as a basic beat, as well as a minor genre of music, following the same composition as Synthpop and Electro-industrial.
The oontz beat may have come from a modernized version of disco drumming.
