Urbanites

Urbanites are an American indie rock band from Valparaiso, Indiana. The band is composed of Bradley Briggs, Steven Burkholder, DJ Field, and Jeremy Schering - all of whom are multi-instrumentalists. The group built a significant local following in the Chicago area with performances at Metro Chicago, Double Door, Schubas Tavern, and Beat Kitchen - opening for indie rock contemporaries such as Dear and the Headlights, [http://en. .org/wiki/Film_School_(band) Film School], and [http://en. .org/wiki/Tyler_James_(American_musician) Tyler James]. The band's momentum continued with 2009 appearances at SXSW, Summerfest, and Taste of Chicago. In November of 2009, the four convened at Chicago's Electrical Audio to record The Years, due for release (Topspin Media) in the Spring of 2010.
In February 2010, Jim Derogatis, Music Critic for the Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Public Radio’s Sound Opinions called The Years EP ‘Impressive’ with a sound that “splits the difference between the glossy, arena-rattling grandeur of mainstream modern rockers such as MGMT or The Killers and much more methodical, introspective local (Chicago) post-rockers and indie-pop mavens like The Sea and Cake.”
