Universal Business Adapter

The Universal Business Adapter (UBA) was an imaginary product described in a 2002 TV commercial that advertised IBM's WebSphere Integration Software. During what appears to be a sales call to several business people, a salesman touts the Universal Business Adapter for its ability to "connect anything to everything." The UBA is also "affordable", "fast" and "easy." But when asked if it would work in Europe, the salesman indicates that the UBA needs an adapter.
The ad reminds the viewer that, unfortunately, "there is no universal business adapter."
Since the ad appeared, the term UBA or Universal Business Adapter has sometimes been used humorously to describe an amazing business solution or IT product that does not exist or for claims that are too good to be true, including some of IBM's own products.
