United Kingdom Drug Discovery Consortium (UKDDC) is a UK based consortium of non-industry organizations committed to improving human health via the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapeutics. Consortium UKDDC members are non-industry based drug discovery organizations, who conduct “pharma-like” drug discovery with the goal of partnering projects with pharmaceutical, biotech or public-private partnerships, to ensure progression into the clinic. The first symposium is to take place on March 11 in London was entitled "21st Century Drug Discovery: A New Approach". Objectives and purpose of the consortium * To provide an alternative source of quality drug leads and candidates for pharma, biotech and public-private partnerships * To enhance the profile of non-industry based drug discovery in the UK * To provide education and training for building integrated drug discovery operations in academic settings * To exchange knowledge and know how between consortium members for more effective drug discovery programs * To give consortium members access to specialised resources in a cost effective manner
