Ulrich Ellison

Ulrich Ellison (born December 14, 1980 in Graz, Austria) is a rock, jazz and blues guitarist. He won a Downbeat student award for "Best Blues/Rock/Pop Soloist, college winner" in 2008 and two Downbeat prizes for "Outstanding Performance, Blues/Rock/Pop" in 2009 and 2010. He graduated from UT Texas with a MM in jazz performance in 2009. His debut release, "Tales From The Kingdom Electric" was critically acclaimed and shows his influences ranging from Jeff Beck, Mike Oldfield, and Joe Satriani to Larry Carlton, Weather Report and Robert Fripp. The second release, the concept album "Lose Yourself" is a departure from jazz-fusion towards a more organic, songwriter-based approach. It features drummer Dony Wynn and bassist Steve Bernal, among others. In 2012 Ulrich Ellison and Tribe toured in Europe and the US, including being support act for legendary rockers Uriah Heep and . Ulrich currently lives in Austin, Texas. He is a student of Austrian guitar masters Alex Machacek and Karl Ratzer.
