UEA Angels

The UEA Angels are a cheerleading team based at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
The Angels was formed as a Union of UEA Students student society by UEA student Alex Sim-Wise, and officially came into existence at the beginning of the academic year of 2001.
The Union of UEA Students Constitution requires each UEA club or society to have a President, Treasurer and Secretary, therefore Alex Sim-Wise became the first President, Claire Askew the first Treasurer and new recruit, Lucy Wraith, became the first Secretary. At this juncture, the primary function of the Angels was to cheer at UEA sports matches and perform dance routines at the . The Angels soon developed a strong affiliation with the UEA Pirates American Football team, and the Angels began cheering at all of the Pirates games.
In 2004 the Angels made their first appearance at the BCA University Cheerleading Competition in Reading. The following year, in addition to the BCA competition, the Angels began competing at the UKCA National Cheerleading Competition.
On 17 March 2007 the UEA Angels won 1st place in their 'University Pom Dance Division' at the UKCA National Cheerleading Championships. At the BCA National University Championships, also in March, the dance squad came 2nd and the stunt squad came 5th.
On 23 February 2008 the UEA Angels performed to over 24,000 people at Carrow Road, Norwich before the Norwich City v. Barnsley game kicked off.
In 2008 The Angels plan to attend the UKCA, BCA and Future Cheer competitions.
On Saturday 22 March 2008 the UEA Angels performed their stunt routine in the Co-ed intermediate division, winning first place. They then continued to please as the dance routine won second place in the large group division.
The Angels are planning to cheer for UEA Pirates and Norwich City Football Club in the near future.
