UCLA Girl

UCLA Girl is the moniker of a poster on YouTube, whose videos received over five million hits as of March of 2011. With response videos also getting several million views. The main video, "Asians in the Library", became highly controversial due to content considered offensive towards Asians. The creator of UCLA Girl, Alexandra Wallace, a junior political science major, apologized for what she said was her mistake in making the video and offending Asians. Later she announced withdrawal from UCLA due to death threats against her and "being ostracized from an entire community".
While there were calls for UCLA to take disciplinary action for the creation of the video, others such as Eugene Volokh, a First Amendment scholar, argued that the content was "clearly constitutionally protected." UCLA university officials later found the content of the video was "an exercise of free speech, not hate speech, and it didn't violate the student code of conduct."
