PatrickJMT (short for Patrick Just Math Tutoring) is a website and youtube channel run by Patrick Jones, a private math tutor in Austin. He was an instructor most recently at Austin Community College. Patrick Jones was a graduate student and instructor at both Vanderbilt University and University of Louisville. Subjects Jones sticks almost exclusively to mathematical subjects. Topics include basic math, graphing, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, differential equations, probability and statistics, and linear algebra. Jones has also uploaded videos covering several standardized tests, and several chess-related videos. Format Unlike the Khan Academy, Patrickjmt's videos consist of recorded footage of Jones doing mathematical problems and narrating the process. They show only his hands and the paper on which he is writing. "I wanted something clean, simple, straightforward—really nothing to distract from what I'm talking about, and I think that's what people like," Jones said. Viewership As of February, 2012, the PatrickJMT YouTube channel has amassed over 32 million views of his over 1300 videos. Reviews Students have commented that Jones' videos are "simple," "concise" and "down-to-earth" explanations that have helped them get through many levels of mathematics.
