Treehoo is a search engine and webportal that uses most its profit to plant trees. The site was started in March 2008 (first under the name "Heropeople.com") and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. The search engine is provided by Google search. The site also offers products from Amazon.com, Allposters.com and FriendFinder. all with the benefit that most of Treehoos profit for every sold product goes to trees.
Several studies show that planting trees could yield good result in the fight against global warming and even that it may totally stop the problem. One such study can be seen at the site of the Earth Policy Institute, another at the site of the Purdue University.
Treehoo receives visitors from more than 100 countries and many of them are repeat visitors. The site's popularity is shown by the many similar sites that have emerged after it was launched, like Ecocho or Click4carbon.com.
