Transatlantic Coffee is a 2011 tragic romantic drama film presented by Riding Hood Motion Pictures . Transatlantic Coffee was written and directed by Erik Peter Carlson and stars Kevin Pinassi, Rachel Marie Lewis and Marcel Torres. The film was produced by Kevin Bar, Yoko Lytle, and Carlson. At the 2011 New York Hell's Kitchen Film Festival, the film was a 2011 Official Selection, Winner of the 2011 Special Jury Prize for Best Actor and an Official Selection for New York Filmmakers. Variety calls the film an "unlikely love story" and Hollywood.com states, "A Solid Flick. Highly Recommended!" LA Movie Examiner critic Billy Tatum writes ""A twist at the end most won't see coming." The film contains all New York talent, including the award-winning musician, Zee Avi, who performs the single, "Is This The End." Avi is signed by Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records. Avi performed at the Park City Film Music Festival immediately after the premiere of Transatlantic Coffee on May 26, 2012 The character Alex is loosely based on a real individual from a documentary Carlson directed back in 1999.
