Tracy Ray Rollins, Jr. (born May 4, 1992), is an American amateur boxer who has a record of 78-6. He is the son of Tracy Ray Rollins, Sr., a former United States Marine. Background ---- Tracy Rollins was born in Oakland, California. Amateur career ---- Rollins first started boxing at Harvey Boxing Club in the winter of 2002. Six months into his career, Rollins' father, Tracy Ray Rollins Sr., had a dispute with the coaching staff, which ended in him pulled his son out of the Harvey Boxing Club, and began to coach his son himself. Having no boxing experience himself, Rollins' father relied on studying frontage of Floyd Mayweather Jr., James Toney, and Roy Jones Jr. to develop his sons style. In his orthodox defensive stance, Rollins—much like James Toney and Floyd Mayweather Jr.—often utilizes the 'shoulder roll'. The shoulder roll is an old-school boxing technique in which the right hand is held normally or slightly higher than normal, the left hand is down around the midsection, and the lead shoulder is raised high on the cheek in order to cover the chin and block punches. The right hand (from orthodox stance) is used as it normally would be to block punches coming from the other side, such as left hooks. From this stance, Rollins blocks, slips, and deflects most of his opponents' punches, even when cornered, by twisting left and right to the rhythm of their punches. Below is a summary of the tournaments Rollins has competed in and how he placed. 2003 State Junior Olympic Champion State Silver Gloves Champion 2004 Regional Silver Gloves Champion National Silver Gloves Champion State Junior Olympic Champion Regional Junior Olympic Champion National Junior Golden Gloves Champion Runner- Up Ringside World Tournament State Silver Gloves Champion 2005 State Junior Olympic Champion Runner- Up Ringside World Tournament State Silver Gloves Champion 2006 Regional Silver Gloves Champion National Silver Gloves Champion State Junior Olympic Champion Regional Junior Olympic Champion National Junior Golden Gloves Champion National Junior Titan Games Champion Runner- Up Ringside World Tournament State Silver Gloves Champion 2007 Regional Silver Gloves Champion National Silver Gloves Champion Placed 3rd at Alijev World Cup (Baku, Azerbaijan) 2008 State Junior Olympic Champion Regional Junior Olympic Champion Placed 3rd at National Junior Olympic Championships 2009 Chicago Golden Gloves Placed 3rd at National Golden Gloves
