Rommel Rene

Rommel Charles Rene (born 1986-04-09 in Brooklyn, New York, was a southpaw professional cruiserweight boxer.
Amateur career
Rene had a stellar amateur career, winning the 2005 National Golden Gloves in the 178 pounds light heavyweight open division.
Pro career
Nicknamed 'The Tank', Rene made his professional debut in 2005 at the age of 19, winning 13 professional bouts, with seven knockouts, fighting a cruiserweight between 182 and 200 pounds.
Troubles Outside the Ring
Rene's promising career was sidetracked in October 2009, when he was criminally charged with two counts of felony child endangerment for allegedly locking two children out of their home because they were 'bothering him. The children were locked outside of the home for 30 minutes in the rain.
Though all charges against Rommel Rene were eventually dropped, bad publicity due to the arrest and subsequent charges served to eventually end interest in his boxing potential and career. Rene's last ring appearance was a six round decision win over Harvey Jolly in Atlanta, Georgia, in December 2011.
