John Christopher Glenn (Born August 25, 1988) is an American actor and musician. His first major acting performance was as Drum's brother in the independent film A Slipping Down Life which stars Australian actor Guy Pearce. The film went on to win the special jury prize at the Indianapolis International Film Festival in 2004. He acted under the screen name and family nick name "Topher Glenn". Also, Glenn is the lead singer, song writer, and rhythm guitarist for the rock band The City Never Sleeps that is based out of Middletown, New York. Early life Glenn was born August 25, 1988 in Austin, Texas. At age 12, Glenn's family, mother Sheila and father Doug, moved from Austin, Texas to Middletown, New York in 2001. After focusing on his education at Middletown, High School and graduating in 2006, Glenn went on to SUNY Orange where he received an associates in the arts. He transferred to SUNY Oneonta to pursue his interest in music and film. Career Film In Austin, Texas Glenn begun his acting career at the age of 5, taking small parts in various commercials for Folgers Coffee. In 1999 Glenn starred in the horror short film, ‘The Boy in the Garage’, directed by Mike Williamson, which was chosen by the University of Texas as one of the ten best of the year and was showcased at the DGA. It received an honorable mention at the National Student Film Festival and garnered positive reviews in Indie Slate Magazine and AintItCool.com. The following summer Glenn landed the supporting role of playing the younger brother of Drum who was played by Guy Pearce in the film A Slipping Down Life. The Movie Also starred Lili Taylor. Due to the move and focusing on studies Glenn took a hiatus from film and acting until 2006, when he created many short films, and eventually wrote a short skit entitled "Blind Hate" performed at SUNY Orange in 2008. Music Glenn begun playing violin at the age of 3 while living in Austin then ceased playing any instrument formally until moving to Middletown where he picked up the guitar. He begun writing songs his freshman year of high school and started a band called Dead Last by his sophomore year. In 2004 Glenn begun a new band with classmates Erik Flora and Curt Mullick called FourFit. After a few months of playing they secured bassist Shelby Mann and the line up hasn't changed since though the name has changed. The band is now called The City Never Sleeps and their latest EP has been acclaimed on numerous sites including showpopr.com. The City Never Sleeps was awarded Band of the Week on guerillamagazine.com . The City Never Sleeps has played with Paramore and Saosin.
