Topaz Winters

Background
Topaz Winters is the pseudonym of Priyanka Balasubramanian Aiyer (born September 25, 1999), a contemporary American writer of Indian origin. She is currently based in Singapore.
Winters’ work is published in Wildness, Hypertrophic Literary, and The Best Teen Writing of 2015 anthology, among others. She is best known for her highly lyrical style of writing, both in poetry and prose.
Mental Illness
Having been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, hyperacusis, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, Winters is also an outspoken advocate for victims of mental illness. She explores the realities of mental illness on her blog Six Impossible Things.
Work
Winters’ debut poetry chapbook, Heaven Or This, was published in May 2016. In addition, she was one of the fourteen authors selected to write a collaborative novel, Cathedral in a Mason Jar, for the 16-16 project by tNY Press, with the final work released in January 2016.
Winters founded the literary/musical journal and community Half Mystic, which is "dedicated to the celebration of music in all its forms", in July 2015; she currently serves as the editor-in-chief for the journal.
In addition, Winters serves as the poetry editor for The Teacup Trail literary journal.
