Tonya M. Foster is an American poet. Life She was born in Bloomington, Illinois and raised in New Orleans. She earned a BA from Newcomb College, Tulane University, and an MFA from the University of Houston. as well as the poem In Tongues from 2015. Academic career Tonya has taught at Bard College, Queens College CUNY, and Baruch College CUNY.<ref name="poetryfoundation.org"/> She is still alive today and she is currently an assistant professor of writing and literature at California College of the Arts.<ref name="poetryfoundation.org"/> Awards Tonya has received fellowships from New York Foundation for the Arts, the Macdowell Colony, the Ford Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, and the Graduate Center of CUNY where she is a PhD candidate.<ref name="poetryfoundation.org"/> |
