Todd Takayoshi

Todd Michael Takayoshi (born October 4, 1970) is an American professional baseball player and coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball.
Career
Takayoshi attended John F. Kennedy High School in Burien, Washington, and the , where he played college baseball for the Hawaii Rainbows baseball team. In 1991, he was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
He then began his professional career with the independent Pocatello Posse in 1993, winning the Pioneer League batting title with a .358/~.468/.465 line and earning a place on the all-star team at DH. He led the league in OBP and walks (50).
He moved to the California Angels organization in 1994, hitting .308/~.396/.447 in 95 games with the Cedar Rapids Kernels and .167/~.286/.167 in only 18 AB with the Lake Elsinore Storm. For Lake Elsinore in 1995 he hit .242/~.402/.350 in only 157 AB while sharing time with Bengie Molina and Andy Allanson among others and he hit .278/.316/.389 in 18 AB for the Midland Angels. Returning to Lake Elsinore yet again in 1996, Takayoshi hit .310/~.443/.474, primarily as DH. In 7 AB with the Vancouver Canadians he hit .286/~.292/.286.
In 1997, Takayoshi moved to the independent Western League and the Reno Chukars. He was named Player of the Year for winning the batting title with his .407/??/.593 line and leading the league with 137 hits and 88 RBI. He ended his playing career in 1998, while also performing some coaching duties for Reno.
After four years away from baseball, Takayoshi called Ty Van Burkleo, who worked for the Anaheim Angels as their minor league hitting coordinator, and Van Burkleo convinced the Angels to hire Takayoshi as the hitting coach for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the Angels' minor league affiliate in the Class A Midwest League.
The Los Angeles Dodgers hired Takayoshi after the 2012 season as their assistant hitting coordinator.
Personal
Takayoshi lives in Tacoma, Washington, with his wife, Saori. The couple have three children. While Takayoshi was out of baseball from 1998 through 2002, he worked for Alaska Airlines.<ref name=starbulletin/>
