Tiptree sneeze, also referred to as Trombone sneeze refers to an event that occurred on 22 February 2014, when Trevor Smith, a trombonist in the London Central Fellowship Band sneezed into his trombone while playing a concert at a church in Tiptree, Essex, England. The event gained national attention, and a video of the event posted on YouTube and other video sharing websites has gone viral, having been viewed several million times. Event Whilst playing William Himes' "Procession to Covenant" at St. Luke's Parish Church with the Salvation Army's London Central Fellowship Band in Tiptree, Essex, trombonist Trevor Smith failed to ride out a sneeze, and accidentally sneezed into his trombone. "I realised it was coming and I pushed the instrument forward slightly but this sneeze was so violent that the reflex action forced my neck forward and it just fitted perfectly with the mouthpiece and made this horrendous noise," Smith, who has been playing the trombone for more than fifty years, told BBC News. Julian Bright, a member of the band in the audience who was filming the concert later uploaded an eighteen-second video of the event onto YouTube. Aftermath The event has led to Smith's nickname of "Sneezer" by the band. and has led to the creation of several parodies. The most popular is the "Trombone Elephant Sneeze."<ref name="gazettenews"/> The London Symphony commented on the original video, saying ""We've all been there: it's a quiet passage and you really really need to sneeze. Try to ignore and keep playing, or disrupt the music to stop and sneeze? This is what happens when you don't quite make it..."<ref name="gazettenews"/> Bill Himes, author of the piece Procession to Covenant said on a post to Twitter that if he realised that such a thing was possible, he would have written it in the piece.<ref name="bbc1"/>
