As of 2012 the Tipton Blue Devils are the defending IHSAA Class 2A Section Champions, having defeated the Northwestern Purple Tigers in the Sectional Championship game two years running. However, the Devils have been defeated by the Fort Wayne Bishop Luer Knights in the Regional Championship game two years running. The Blue Devils play in the Hoosier Conference of the IHSAA. 2011 Season The Devils started the season with a 9-10 home loss to the Hamilton Heights Huskies, (The only team that would defeat the Devils in 2011 that would not advance to a semi-state game.) backed up by a huge win against the Elwood Panthers in week two. The Devils would go on to win two more games before dropping three in a row, (All home games.) including a homecoming loss to Lafayette Central Catholic. The Devils would go on to defeat the Twin Lakes Indians and Delphi Oracles (Both away games.) leading into their sectional run. The Devils drew the Eastern Comets in the 2011 Sectional Draw, and played the game at home, where they narrowly defeated the Comets by a score of 28-27 when the Comets refused to kick a field goal in the closing seconds of the game. The Blue Devils moved on to eventually play the Sectional Championship game, again at Northwestern, and again defeating the Purple Tigers, and again advanced to the Regional Game. The Devils would however lose to the Knights and ultimately end their season. 2011 offensive starters *QB - Austin Hooker - Soph. #2 *C - Cole Warner - Sen. #54 *OT - Logan Reeves - Sen. #65 *OT - Isaac Schmitt - Soph. #77 *OG - Hunter Razo - Sen. #51 *OG - Bryce Calvin - Soph. #56 *OT - Jake Sheppherd - Sen. #76 *OG - Luke Shivley - Sohp. #66 *WR - Kaleb Murray - Sen. #28 *WR - Jacob Dye - Sen. #3 *WR - Jake Devendorf - Soph. #87 *WR - Blake Hoover - J. #33 *TE - Gunnar Norred - J. #88 *TE - Drew Frawley - Sen. #10 *TE - Nate Friend - Soph. #84 *FB - Nate Hein - J. #35 *HB - James Altherr - J. #20 2011 defensive starters 2011 special teams *K - Austin Hooker - Soph. #2 *K - James Altherr - J. #20 *Holder - Blake Hoover - J. #33 *LS - Mike Tocco - J. #58 *LS- Luke Shively - Soph. #66 *P - Jake Dye - Sen. #3 *P - Cole Warnery - Sen. #54 2011 reserve/junior varsity *WR/QB/S - Quenton Mendenhall - J. #12 *RB/OLB - Cody Shupperd - J. #14 *WR/CB - Keegan Kilfoil-Barnes - J. #16 *RB/S - Brody Dell - F. #21 *WR/CB - Matt Cavanaugh - F. #22 *WR/CB - Randy James JR. - J. #23 *WR/CB - Mike Shuck - F. #24 *WR/CB - Alex Mundell - J. #25 *RB/OLB - Kinnon Roudebush - Soph. #26 *WR/QB/S - Tanner Maxey - Soph. #31 *WR/CB - Cody Vandevender - Soph. #36 *WR/CB - Cory King - Soph. #43 *WR/LB - Lane Williams - F. #44 *OG/DE - Cal Thomas - F. #52 *OG/DE - Cody Thomas - Soph. #53 *OG/DT - Mike Boothroyd - Sen. #55 *OG/DE - Phillip Nichols - F. #57 *C/DT - Mike Tocco (Played Varsity LS) - J. #58 *OL/DE - Tyler Brewer - F. #59 *OG/DT - Quentin Carter - J. #60 *OG/DT - Coty Shuck - J. #62 *C/DE - Chris Bell - F. #64 *OT/DE - Brody Blake - Soph. #67 *OG/LB - Eli Razo - Soph. #70 *OT/DT - Corey Thomas - F. #71 *OG/DT - Jon Sampson - Soph. #72 *OT/DT - Isaac Garmon - Soph. #73 *OG/DT/FB - Colby Louthen - J. #75/#45 *OT/DT - Lance Anderson - Soph. #78 *OT/DT - Nelson Blanton - J. #79 *WR/CB - Bryan Wisenberg - Soph. #80 *TE/LB - Cody Roberts - J. #81 *TE/DE - Andy Overdorf - F. #82 *WR/DB - Patrick Traggeser - F. #83 2012 graduating seniors In this section Kaleb Murray was excluded because he was released from the team during the regular season. Kodi Stillson was excluded because he only participated in the team as a manager due to sever injuries during his first three years. Mike Boothroyd was also excluded because he only played his senior year, and didn't earn enough quarters to letter. Jake Dye Dye, #3, was a four year starter for the Tipton Blue Devils. He played QB for an injured Ross Schulenburg his freshman year, and WR/CB until his graduation in 2012. Dye also punted for the Devils in 2010, and backed up Warner, #54, for punter in 2011. Cole Warner Warner, #54, started as Center following his brother's graduation in 2009, and started through his senior year. During his senior year, he became the team's starting punter. He was a three-year letterman. Drew Frawley Frawley, #10, began his high school career playing WR for the JV/Reserve team. During his junior year, he began playing special teams for field goals and punts, and his senior year, he became one of two starting tight ends. Frawley was a two-year letterman. Logan Reeves Despite an injury in week one against the Hamilton Heights Huskies, Reeves, #65, returned after 6 weeks of play and earned enough quarters to letter for the third time. Like Frawley, Reeves began on the JV/Reserve team, and made his way onto the Varsity offensive line during his 2009 year. Jake Sheppherd Sheppherd, #76, started his high school career as a tight end, but due to a lack of defensive linemen, Sheppherd was asked by Head Coach Aaron Tolle to transition to the defensive line. For three years, Sheppherd played DE and OT, lettering all three years.
