Tiffany Apan

Tiffany Apan (born October 25, 1980, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania) is an American singer, actress, songwriter, model, and dancer.
Apan received her earliest musical training from her grandparents who taught her how to play musical instruments such as the accordion, violin, organ, harmonica, and piano. She studied ballet, tap, and jazz dance from a niece of Gene Kelly and also studied hip hop and modern dance. She studied classical piano and voice along with acting classes through Wilkes University's Conservatory and also studied musical theatre at Carnegie Mellon University, Seton Hill University, and Slippery Rock University. Apan also developed her voice by participating in stage musical productions, operas, and choirs.
Career
Apan's acting credits include stage and film roles. Stage credits include Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, and a principal dancer in Kiss of the Spider Woman, and one of two Free-Style Jazz Singers in the world premiere of Whispers Want to Holler with the Kuntu Repertory Theatre where she met and worked with Billy Harper who had written the music for the production. She served as actor and chorepgrapher in the Canterbury Dinner Theatre's production of Miracle on 34th Street. In film, she portrayed Janet in the Troma Entertainment released Meat For Satan's Ice Box, Jessica Peters in Slashers Gone Wild with Robyn Griggs, a cameo role in Heavy Mental, and the role of Kara in the upcoming indie film The Girl with Robert Z'Dar, Playboy's Lisa Neeld, and Lindsay Felton. In the summer of 2007, Apan was interviewed for the documentary about Deadpit radio, Into the Pit: the Shocking Story Behind Deadpit.com. Tiffany Shepis, PJ Soles, Lloyd Kaufman, Kane Hodder, and Dee Snider were also interviewed for the documentary. In December 2006, Deadpit radio interviewed Apan in a segment on up and coming actresses. Apan stated in a 2008 interview with This Is Some Scene that she would like to go back and do some more stage acting.
In 2007, Apan released two EPs titled Porcelain Doll and Ghost. The EPs were entirely recorded and produced by Apan and musician/composer Jason English. 2008 brought the release of her debut album Poet. Poet included the tracks from her two EPs along with seven other new tracks. Poet was largely self-composed and self-produced by Apan and English save three songs toward the end of recording which were recorded and mixed by Rowen Poole, of the progressive rock band Persephone's Dream. Since the release of Poet, songs from the album have been included on several compilation CDs including Cats n Clawz 4 (UK release), Lunar Sea (US release), and ProgPower USA X (US release). She was contacted by Rockabilly Hall of Fame artist, Chuck Owston to appear with him and his band, Bonfire Night on an album Apan has acknowledged gothic musical stylings as being one of the influences for the sounds on Poet. Deadpit radio played Poet throughout a show where they interviewed Bill Moseley and was featured in a segment of Rough Edge Radio's The Backseat Mogul Show. Tracks from Poet have been requested on The Punking Madness Show on Music World Radio Apan has performed and appeared in art gallaries, acoustic venues, rock n roll venues, and film festivals/conventions/trade shows in the east coast and midwestern states of the US such as Dark Xmas and Monster Mania. She has also shared the stage with musical acts like Sofia Talvik, G TOM MAC and First Jason.
Reactions to Poet
Visit Butler County referred to Apan's music as being "a breath of fresh air". Toine van Poorten of Metal Maidens Magazine (based out of The Netherlands) gave the album a positive review calling the music a blend of 'classical, ambient, goth, Cetlic-folk, and wave rock' while at the same time warning listeners that the music on Poet may be found to be 'too experimental, dark, or obscure' by the average mainstream rock fan. Eufonia Radio and Reviews categorized the music as "dark progmetal goth" and DJ Grumpy of Music World Radio described it as "atmospheric rock". A review by Jon Neudorf in the webzine, Sea of Tranquility, described the album as having "a more European Flavor ... maybe Scandinavian or Celtic" going on to categorize it as Celtic/gothic/folk' and compared Tiffany's voice to that of Nightwish singer, Anette Olzon. Apan's work, vocals, and stylings have also been compared to that of Sarah Brightman, Lana Lane and Siouxsie Sioux.
