Thushar Vellapally

Thushar Natesan Vellapally, better known as Thushar Vellapally is an Indian politician and businessman from Kerala state. He currently serves as the President of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), a political party and an ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He is the state convener of NDA in Kerala, and holds a position in Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP).
Elections
In the 2019 Indian general election in Kerala, Thushar was initially selected to contest from the Thrissur constituency as a candidate of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), which is a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). After the announcement of Rahul Gandhi's candidature from Wayanad constituency, Thushar was shifted to contest from Wayanad.

Personal life
Thushar was born to Vellapally Natesan and Preethi Vellapally. He has a sister Vandana. Thushar married Asha and they have a son, Dev, and a daughter, Devika. Thushar is also a businessman. He is the director of Greenstone Consulting Pvt Ltd and Vellapally Hotels Pvt Ltd.
Controversy
In August 2019, Thushar was arrested in United Arab Emirates on charges of a 19 crore cheque default case. His plea for returning to India was rejected by the Ajman court, but was released on bail after two days of imprisonment.
