Thoughts in reverse

Thoughts in Reverse (formerly From the Ashes) is a Metal/Hardcore band from Syracuse, NY formed in the end/beginning of 2009/2010. The members of the band include Anthony Phillips (vocals), Kory Stuhler (drums), Scott Garland (guitar), Greg Mathurin (guitar), and Jon Page (bass).
Their style can be described as mixing melodic parts, with heavy breakdowns, fast and intense thrash riffs, and a combination between August Burns Red, For the Fallen Dreams, Parkway Drive, and It Dies Today.
Origins
In early 2008, Kory, at that time 17, looked to start a band, and started playing with local musicians from his high school, Cicero North Syracuse High School, and realized soon he wanted to search for members wanting to play the same style. He decided to convince best friend Anthony Phillips to start learning how to scream, although he had never had any experience or training prior. After months of toying around with members and sounds, the band started playing shows in early 2009, although weren't very serious. They contacted local guitarist Scott Garland through friends, and started jamming. The band had undergone many lineup changes and style changes, in the coming months trying to find musicians dedicated enough and quickly started gaining some local recognition and playing more high-profile national shows. After a fleet of shows, they planned at DIY tour for August. After a 20 day tour in August of 2009, they gained guitarist Greg Mathurin, who had previously played in a local cover band called Dead Rose. Jon Page, a college classmate of Kory at Onondaga Community College, was the next and last to join the roster in late October, 2009. Once they saw positive feedback coming in about their music, they searched long and hard for serious and dedicated members and in the fall of 2009 finally decided to become a serious band, and gained a solid 5 person lineup. A band formed as a fun hobby, became a serious endeavor, who garnered ambition enough to make this a career. Changing their name From the Ashes, to, Thoughts in Reverse, and changing their style, songs, image, and undergoing a reinvention, the 2010 year will make a big splash for the band. The band is soon to be released on Itunes, Amazon, Limewire, and more, as well as summer tours underway.
Releases
In March of 2009, the 5 piece outfit (of which only Scott, Anthony, and Kory are remaining members,) went to DWS studios in niagara falls and recorded with Mike Hatalak of their favorite band, It Dies Today, their 6 song ep debut, "Perdition." It garnered some recognition, but showed the band still was in it's infancy and needed time to grow. In December of 2009, they ventured down to record their 4 song ep, "In A Dead World." Although not yet released, it has gained significant positive feedback from many labels, and even gained acclaim enough from Hatalak to send it to labels and the metal outfit Chimara, and earned much praise.
