ThoughtAudio.com is an internet company specializing in audiobook production and distribution. It is based in Pleasanton, California, one of the cities and towns in the San Francisco Bay area. ThoughtAudio has supplied freely accessible English language audio books online since 2004. Their audio selections are accessed by many different groups and individuals: home schools, libraries, educational institutions, college students, commuters, physically challenged individuals, and many other types of listeners worldwide. All of their work is done on a volunteer basis and is supported by donations. Michael Scott Gallegos, the executive producer and an audio book narrator for ThoughtAudio, is a notable area artist and an award-winning photographer. His production company, Michael Scott Studios, was commissioned to create photographs for the book Oakland Welcomes the World (1996) documenting the city's growth from the gold rush of 1849, to a modern economic center and transportation hub.
