Thirteen of Everything

Thirteen of Everything is a progressive rock/art rock musical group, founded in 2000, whose debut album, Welcome, Humans (2005), has received wide acclaim.
Biography
Based in Austin, Texas, Thirteen of Everything's members are Ted Thomas (drums, percussion, vocals), Mick Peters (Chapman Stick, acoustic guitar, vocals), Joe Funk (electric & acoustic guitars, vocals) and Thad Miller (keyboards). In March 2002, the original formation of the band, with keyboardist Patrick McFarland recorded and self-distributed an album-length "demo" CD, which was lauded for its unique mixture of classic symphonic rock structures with fresh sounds and unexpected twists. McFarland left in the months following (see Copperdown') to be replaced by Thad Miller. Performances followed throughout 2003. During 2004 the band recorded their official debut album, Welcome, Humans, which was released worldwide in May 2005 by Musea Records, and has garnered very favorable reviews.
Sound
A variety of influences are present in the music of Thirteen of Everything, with emphasis on long pieces with intricate, syncopated arrangements while maintaining a strong focus on melodic content and thematic development. The music appeals to fans of classic prog-rock and new prog-rock as well as jam band fans and anyone enjoying complex arrangements with lots of melody.
Influences
Thirteen of Everything's sound is sometimes reminiscent of 70's era Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, U.K., etc., but some of have also cited hearing such diverse influences as XTC and even Frank Zappa in the mix. To most ears the sound is probably most evocative of a mixture of 70's prog-rock but with a more modern approach and sound a la Echolyn, The Flower Kings or Spock's Beard. However, Thirteen of Everything's music, though offering up an entertaining variety of moods, more often leans toward the darker, more melancholy ambience of their 70's influences, rather than the relatively lighter shades of their aforementioned contemporaries.
