Thinking Cap Studio

Thinking Cap Studio (formally known as Thinking Cap Create) is a Learning Content Management System that was released in January 2003 by Thinking Cap.
Overview
Thinking Cap Studio is a Learning Content Management System that allows teams to create e-Learning content. More specifically, it is a team-oriented authoring environment that uses a Structured Content Development Model to efficiently create consistent courseware that is SCORM compliant and may be exported to any Learning management system (LMS).
Product Development
After two years of development, Thinking Cap Create 1.4 was released. Since its release date in January 2003, Thinking Cap has modified and released its LCMS two additional times to its current version, Thinking Cap Create 3.
Features
Thinking Cap Studio allows for authoring of content following the ADL SCORM specification and the Structured Content Development Model. Thinking Cap stresses the use of XSL Schemas to codify Instructional Design and the separation of this content from presentation. Some of the LCMS' main features are:
• Thinking Cap creates XML content that is open source W3C standard. All content is SCORM 2004 compliant and can run in any SCORM 2004 certified LMS.
• Because all content is semantically marked-up in XML, new platforms only need a unique layout template to deliver existing content.
• Thinking Cap presents content in the Authoring Suite using templates that best serve the author. For the student, the LCMS applies templates defined by the user interface designer and is customizable for different web browser, platforms, languages and learning styles.
• The ability to reuse content, layouts and assets. All parts of a curriculum from the text, the structure and multimedia are stored independently in XML and can be recombined to create infinite course materials.
• Allows a Subject Matter Expert to create the content of a course and completely shields them from the underlying XML and issues of layout.
• As a 100% XML-based LCMS, Thinking Cap Studio allows Subject Matter Experts, Learning Designers, Programmers and User Interface Designers to work independently on shared materials.
• Easily define the sequence of a course, its navigation rules and reporting properties via a visual tool that creates manifests sharable with any SCORM-compliant LMS.
• Import and export courses in both XML and HTML.
• Asset Management is a core function of the LCMS. Be it audio, video, images or flash; it can store, retrieve and catalogue any media in the Asset Library and allow your developers to easily access them during course creation.
• Allows IDs to enforce instructional rules.
• Safeguard your content from proprietary formats allowing you to transfer your content between different Learning Management Systems
• Using predefined content and delivery templates authors can create shareable learning objects with text, images, sound, animations, video and as well as custom multiple choice and short answer questions.
• Because Thinking Cap is template driven, authors do not need to have any technical knowledge of HTML or other web programming languages.
• Thinking Cap Studio supports the presentation of content with text and multimedia assets making it suited for the creation of standalone e-learning content such as online tutorials and self-directed learning modules.
