History
In 1964, a group of over one hundred parents met in a community meeting in St. Lawrence Church in Chester, NJ. As a result, a Board of Trustees was formed to create The Westmont Montessori School. Westmont’s original class was held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Chester. Soon after getting started enrollment increased dramatically and Westmont rented a facility in Long Valley, NJ. It was next housed in a storefront on Route 206 in Chester. In 1972 the acquisition of land on Route 24 on the Mendham/Chester border allowed the school to find its present home at 577 Route 24.
Westmont recently celebrated its 50th year with over 200 alumni in attendance.
