The Warner Bros. Album is The Residents first ever recording, made in 1971. The tape was sent to Harve Halverstadt, who while completed on its originality, said it was unmarketable and sent it back to them, labeled "To: The Residents." This is where the band got its name. After bits of it were broadcast on a Portland radio show in 1977, it disappeared for years, and was found again in 2003 when file sharing was at its peak. When The Residents discovered this, they decided instead of releasing the original material, they decided remake it, leading to the release of in 2003.
