The Vue on Apache

The Vue on Apache, also known as The Vue, is a luxury, 11 story student housing complex located one block off the Arizona State University campus. The private residence received its name for having breathtaking views of both the Camelback, South, and Four Peaks Mountains and the city lights of ASU’s campus.
Attraction
After opening doors in August 2009, the Vue proved itself as the most desirable housing community in Tempe. Residents and guests are immediately impressed with the interiors offered standard in every unit including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, washer and dryer, flat panel LCD TV, and contemporary furnishings. The Vue also offers a sun deck complete with infinity edge pool, sand volleyball court, hot tub, BBQ grills, and fire pit. Residents may also utilize the state-of-the-art fitness center, sauna, tanning facility, clubroom, and the knowledgeable and friendly on-site management staff.
Location
Located at 922 E. Apache Blvd, The Vue is just steps from classes and two blocks from the Metro Light Rail. Residents may access on-campus buildings and businesses without the need for a car. If you do decide to bring a vehicle, parking is available for a rate of $84 a month.
Design and architecture
The 275,000 total square foot building rises 11 stories with 132 luxurious apartments. These are a mixture of studio through 5 bedroom unit options for 458 students. In addition to residences, the first floor has of retail space and 233 parking spaces above.
The vision for The Vue was for a modern take on student housing with ties to the contextual environment including colors and materials native to the region. Planners took into consideration climate issues and sun angles into their design while also striving to maintain a campus feel identifiable with students.
Instead of the typical block form, The Vue is organized into two separate towers that intersect each other with a glass bridge connection. This maximizes the building perimeter allowing tenants to experience the best views around. One tower oriented north/south provides street presence. Along this façade, a smaller volume is pulled away from the main tower to create terraced areas and mark site entry. The east/west bar is a backdrop to the pool and amenity spaces at the main terrace level. This arrangement gives the pool deck ultimate sun exposure during peak hours of the day while limiting unwanted rays in residents’ windows.
The Vue’s design team wanted to integrate a mix of work and play into their living concept. To do so, they asked current college attendees for input and suggestions on the extra benefits of a building that would attract today’s ASU student. Their responses led an over-the-top amenity package never before included in student housing. The Vue features:
* Large balconies extending your living space outdoors
* Infinity-edge pool leading in to a shallow wading pool
* Sand volleyball court
* Hot tub
* BBQ grills
* Poolside fire pit
* State-of-the-art indoor/outdoor fitness center
* Sauna/Steam room
* Tanning Beds
* Clubroom/ Lounge with Wi-Fi internet access
Retail space
Developers searched for retailers that would add value to tenants keeping in line with the ultimate lifestyle theme delivered only at The Vue. Vendors rushed at the chance to operate in a prime location and target market living right upstairs. Commercial tenants include: Sal’s Pizza, Tempe Bicycle, Brosenbrus Café, and Fro Yo Frozen Yogurt.
The fifth retail spot is reserved for The Vue property management. Having on-site management directly on the first floor gives tenants the convenience and security desired at such a prestigious living facility. Residents are able to lease, pay rent, request maintenance, and socialize with staff all without leaving the comfort of home.
Green initiatives
Michael Partee took a lot of 'green' initiatives on the premises.
Initial phases and present
On August 21, 2009 The Vue on Apache opened its doors on time and on budget to welcome home its first year of residents. The building successfully pre-leased at 100%. The initial management went out of business, so the Vue is running under second management.
The Vue staff continually works toward providing tenants an unprecedented lifestyle including excellent customer service and tenant appreciation events. Past examples include holiday and pool parties, barbecue socials, and free Vue merchandise giveaways!
